Import SCORM or AICC packages as lesson slides

Learn how to import SCORM or AICC packages as lesson slides via the web app.

What are SCORM and AICC packages?

In e-learning or training, SCORM (Sharable Content Object Reference Model) and AICC (Aviation Industry Computer-Based Training Committee) are two popular standards for creating and delivering digital learning content. Both standards specify how e-learning content should be structured and packaged, allowing for compatibility with learning management systems (LMS) or learning content management systems (LCMS).

We understand that some organizations may already have existing LMS that facilitate training, so to make it easier for you to reuse existing content, you can easily import SCORM and AICC packages as lesson slides in your SafetyCulture courses.

Although you can import SCORM and AICC packages, we recommend creating and editing lesson slides directly within SafetyCulture, where possible, to provide your teams with the best training experience.

What you'll need

Import a SCORM or AICC package as a lesson slide

  1. Log in to the web app.

  2. Select Training iconTraining from the menu on the left-hand side.

  3. If you're on the "Learn" page, click Content at the top of the page and select Courses.

  4. Hover your cursor over the course and click View or Edit.

  5. If you're editing an existing course and it's published, click Pencil iconEdit on the upper-right of the page.

  6. Create a new standard lesson or click an existing one.

  7. In the left-hand side panel, click Plus (filled) iconNew slide.

  8. In the pop-up window, select Lightning (advanced) iconAdvanced under "MORE" and click AICC or SCORM. Import a SCORM or AICC package as a lesson slide via the web app.

  9. In the right-hand side panel, upload your AICC or SCORM package, then configure the slide accordingly.

Please note that the training course experience on the mobile app may be suboptimal if a SCORM or AICC package's content wasn't built to support mobile screens.

If your course is currently a draft, remember to publish it to make your changes available to your team.

Limitations

  • Scoring within SCORM and AICC packages is not recorded as part of course scoring.

  • Performance dashboard by course slides is not available to SCORM and AICC lesson slides.
