Create assets using RFID
Learn how to create new assets by scanning RFID tags to auto-fill unique IDs via the mobile app.Why use RFID for asset management?
RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) uses radio waves to identify tagged objects without needing direct contact or line of sight. In SafetyCulture, you can scan RFID tags to automatically fill the unique ID when creating assets or to instantly find them in the field. This speeds up registration, reduces manual entry errors, and ensures accurate tracking of tagged equipment across your organization. RFID is especially valuable in high-volume environments like warehouses, worksites, or depots where quick and accurate identification matters. Teams can save time, avoid duplicates, and keep asset records up to date with minimal effort.
Interacting with assets using RFID requires mobile app versions 25.24 or higher and devices running Android 8 or iOS 15 and above.

Preguntas frecuentes
In SafetyCulture, each RFID tag can only be linked to one asset. To reuse a tag, change the unique ID from the asset it’s currently linked to before assigning it to a new one. The one-tag-per-asset setup helps prevent duplicate records and ensures each asset can be accurately identified in the field.
If you're having trouble connecting your Zebra scanner, try the following tips:

Turn on Bluetooth and make sure the scanner is discoverable in your mobile device’s settings.
Check if the scanner is already paired with another device.
Make sure the scanner is set to use its RFID reader, not barcode scanner.
Press the scanner trigger to confirm it’s powered on and actively scanning.
