What are Quizzes in SafetyCulture?

Quizzes are an efficient way to re-engage team members who may have forgotten their learnings from training courses by delivering tests at regular intervals to check their understanding and reinforce retention.

You can easily create Quizzes using a pre-formatted Excel template. Once your Quiz is scheduled, you'll be able to view analytics and gain insight into individual and group performance.

A Quiz can't be edited once it's created, so be sure to check your Excel file of questions and answers before uploading and creating a Quiz.

Frequently asked questions

The cause depends on the error you're getting when you upload the Excel file. Some of the most common errors include:

"The uploaded template must contain at least one question."

It's likely due to the "FILL ME OUT" sheet in your Excel file not having any questions in column B. Please check your Excel file and make sure you've entered your questions on the correct sheet and column.

"Number of possible answers is less than required." or "Correct answers column is empty." or "Follow up text column is empty."

It's likely the fields mentioned in the error are blank. Please check your Excel file and ensure the following:

  • Each question has at least two possible answers (columns C and D).

  • At least one correct answer (column I) is provided for each question.

  • Follow up text (column J) has been provided for each question.

"Correct answers must point to existing answers." or "Correct answers column must be in the 'A, B, C' format."

It's likely that what you've entered in the correct answer field (column I) doesn't correspond to one of the answers. Please make sure the correct answer is entered as "A", "B", "C", etc. Not the actual answer value itself.

For example, if the correct answer ("This is correct") is answer B in column D, enter "B" instead of "This is correct".

No, once a Quiz is scheduled, it can no longer be unpublished or reverted to draft. However, some settings can still be updated while the Quiz is ongoing, such as its title and description, as well as who it's assigned to.
