View inspection history
Learn what inspection history is, how to view it, and its limitations via the web app. What is inspection history?
Inspection history records all the changes that users make to an inspection. It gives teams full visibility into how an inspection updates over time by making it clear who changed what and when.
For example, if a user updates or adds a response, that change appears in the history along with the user's name, what changed, and the exact time it occurred. This makes it easy to trace changes, review what happened during an inspection, and ensure accountability.
What you'll need
The "Inspection started by" field automatically populates with the name of the inspection author. This is the user who last edited the inspection.
View an inspection history
Select
Inspections from the left-hand side menu.
Click
on the right-hand side of the inspection and select
View history.
This lists the history of all supported response types, from the latest edits at the top of the page to the start of the inspection at the bottom of the page. You can hover your cursor over the relative time labels, such as a day ago, to see the specific date and time the change was synced.
The map view allows you to review where each inspection response has been answered on a map.
Limitations
The feature was released on June 10th, 2018, so inspection edits made before this date are not available.
If you try to view the history of an inspection conducted or edited before June 10th, 2018, you may see "Historical data unavailable" or "Warning: History for this inspection may be missing."
An inspection history does not include actions created in inspections and responses to questions using the "Annotation", "Asset", or "Site" response types.
The inspection history will show both the date and time, even if only one was selected in a question with a date and time or inspection date response type.
Frequently asked questions
On the web app, when you select just a date, the inspection history will display 00:00 or 12:00 AM, depending on the time format you set in your profile. The system assigns this default time for date and time responses whenever only a date is provided.
On the mobile app, when you select just a date, the inspection history will display the actual time you enter your response. The system assigns this actual time for date and time responses whenever only a date is provided.
When you select only a time during inspection, the inspection history also adds the date you entered the response. This happens because the inspection history always shows both the date and the time for date and time responses.
When you edit an auto-populated response in an inspection, the inspection history will show the same details as the inspection date response, and will always include both the date and time, regardless of the platform used to conduct or edit the inspection.
