Why scan barcodes or QR codes in inspections?

Scanning barcodes or QR codes is a great way to automate data entry to minimize human error. With SafetyCulture, you can scan barcodes or QR codes in inspections to streamline data entry without compromising accuracy.

Take note

  • You can scan QR codes and the following types of 1D and 2D barcodes:

    • EAN-13/UPC-A

    • UPC-E

    • EAN-8

    • Code 128

    • Code 39

    • Interleaved 2 of 5

Scan a barcode or QR code in an inspection

  1. Open the mobile app.

  2. Tap Inspections at the bottom of your screen.

  3. Start or edit an existing inspection.

  4. Progress through the inspection accordingly.

  5. Tap image on the question's right-hand side and select Barcode/QR code scanner from the pop-up options. View available data capture options in inspections on the mobile app.

  6. Focus the camera on the barcode or QR code.

  7. The scanned value should appear at the top of your screen. If the value isn't quite right, try focusing your camera on the barcode or QR code again. Then, tap Use value or image at the upper-right of your screen.
