Copy template access rules

Learn how to copy existing access rules to a new template via the web app, so you can quickly replicate who can conduct inspections and view results without setting up rules from scratch.

What does it mean to copy template access rules?

Copying template access rules allows you to apply an existing access setup from one template to another so you don't have to build rules from scratch. The copied template picks up the same setup, including who can conduct inspections and who can view inspection reports.

This saves time when managing multiple templates shared across groups or sites, so you can replicate a proven setup instead of building rules from scratch. It's especially useful when rolling out new templates for existing teams or standardizing access across your organization.

Copying access rules to another template doesn't include the template owner. If you want the template owner to have access, you'll need to add them to the rules manually.

Copy a template's access rules

  1. Log in to the web app.

  2. Select Templates in the sidebar or select it in Assets gallery view iconMore.

  3. Click the template and select Manage access in the side panel.

  4. Click More vertical icon and select Import rules from another template.

  5. In the side panel, click the dropdown menu and select the template you want to copy access rules from.

  6. Click Import rules.

  7. Click Save and apply.

  8. In the pop-up window, select No, apply to future only or Yes, apply to all. Selecting "Yes, apply to all" option overrides existing inspections' access based on the updated access rules. Learn more about retroactively providing inspection access.
