Manage custom description fields

Learn how to manage custom description fields in investigations via the web app.

What are investigation description fields?

Description fields in investigations allow you to structure how incident details are captured. You can customize these fields to guide your team on what to include during a workplace incident investigation, such as the incident description, timeline of events, people involved, and potential impact. This helps ensure consistent reporting and standardizes the investigation process across your team.

If you're on Offre Gratuite SafetyCulture, your investigations include 9 default description fields, which can’t be edited. To edit your description fields, you need to be on Offre Premium ou Enterprise SafetyCulture.

Vous pouvez créer jusqu'à 25 champs de description personnalisés à utiliser dans vos enquêtes. Chaque champ de titre est limité à 255 caractères, et chaque champ de texte par défaut peut contenir jusqu'à 300 000 caractères.

Create a custom description field

  1. Log in to the web app.

  2. Select Investigations iconEnquêtes from the menu on the left-hand side.

  3. Select Paramètres at the top of the page.

  4. In the "Investigation fields" section, click Icône de crayonModifier.

  5. Click Icône plusAjouter un champ at the bottom of the page. Enter a title and default description accordingly.

  6. Click Enregistrer.

Any custom description fields you’ve set up will automatically appear when you create a new investigation.

Edit a custom description field

  1. Log in to the web app.

  2. Select Investigations iconEnquêtes from the menu on the left-hand side.

  3. Select Paramètres at the top of the page.

  4. In the "Investigation fields" section, click Icône de crayonModifier. Edit a custom description field via the web app.

  5. Edit the title and default description accordingly.

  6. Click Enregistrer.

Reorder a custom description field

  1. Log in to the web app.

  2. Select Investigations iconEnquêtes from the menu on the left-hand side.

  3. Select Paramètres at the top of the page.

  4. In the "Investigation fields" section, click Icône de crayonModifier.

  5. Click More horizontal icon on the right-hand side of the field, then select Arrow down iconMove down or Arrow down iconMove down. Alternatively, click and hold Drag icon on the left-hand side of the field to reorder fields as needed.

  6. Click Enregistrer.

Delete a custom description field

  1. Log in to the web app.

  2. Select Investigations iconEnquêtes from the menu on the left-hand side.

  3. Select Paramètres at the top of the page.

  4. In the "Investigation fields" section, click Icône de crayonModifier.

  5. Click More horizontal icon on the right-hand side of the field and select Delete iconSupprimer. Delete a custom description field via the web app.

  6. Click Enregistrer.
