Scan barcodes or QR codes in inspections

Learn how to scan barcodes and QR codes in inspections using the SafetyCulture mobile app. This article explains supported code types, compatible response fields, and steps to capture and insert scanned values directly into inspection answers.

What you'll need

Scan a barcode or QR code in an inspection

  1. Open the mobile app.

  2. Tap Inspections in the navigation bar or select it from Assets gallery view iconMore.

  3. Start a new inspection or edit an existing one.

  4. Progress through the inspection accordingly.

  5. Tap Data capture (toolkit) icon on the question's right-hand side and select Barcode/QR code scanner from the pop-up options.

  6. Focus the camera on the barcode or QR code.

  7. The scanned value should appear at the top of your screen. If the value isn't quite right, try focusing your camera on the barcode or QR code again. Then, tap Use value or Done/check icon at the upper-right of your screen.
